WEST VALLEY CITY — A woman who died in a crash Wednesday evening was identified as a high school senior who was set to graduate next month.

Talia Littlefield, 18, of Tooele, died at the scene of the crash at 6200 S. Mountain View Corridor about 8:15 p.m., West Valley police tweeted.

She was the passenger in a car driven west by a 17-year-old on 6200 South. The driver ran a red light at Mountain View Corridor and a southbound vehicle hit them, police said Wednesday.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Southbound Mountain View Corridor was closed in the area after the accident.

Littlefield was a senior at Stansbury High School, according to Tooele County School District officials. She and her twin were set to graduate on May 24. Officials said she also had two other siblings currently enrolled in the school district.

Classmates and teachers were shocked and saddened when they learned Littlefield had died in a crash. A letter was sent to parents about her death.

In addition, extra counselors were at the school Thursday for students and teachers who needed them. They are to be there for as long as needed.

"We love and care about every one of our kids, so it hurts," said Scott Rogers, superintendent for the Tooele County School District. "It's not a number or a statistic to us, it's a name. We just want our kids to be careful and be safe out there."
