DUCHESNE — Officials have identified a man who drowned after falling into Starvation Reservoir on Thursday afternoon.

Spanish Fork resident Peter Tomadakis, 79, died about 3:40 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Utah State Parks officials.

Tomadakis and his friend were fishing along the shore of the reservoir at Fred Hayes State Park, officials said. While the two were walking near Freedom Bridge, Tomadakis slipped and fell, rolling down the bank and into the water, officials said.

The friend was not able to help and called 911. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a park ranger responded to the scene.

They located and recovered Tomadakis’s body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
