LAYTON — Police have identified a man who died after being hit by a car in Layton on Wednesday evening.

Nicholas Hiatt, 32, died after being hit about 8:50 p.m. near 2080 N. Main St., according to Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman.

Hiatt was crossing the street in an area where there was not a crosswalk, and it was dark at the time, Lyman said. He was taken to Davis Hospital and later pronounced dead, according to police.

Layton Police said Wednesday the driver who hit the man was cooperating with police. It appeared that the driver did not see Hiatt, according to Layton Police Lt. Brady Fitzpatrick.

Lyman added that investigators were waiting for the results of a toxicology report for the driver, which is standard protocol for such crashes.
