HEBER CITY — Neighbors remained uneasy Monday as investigators tried to get to the bottom of a second cabin explosion in a month in a small mountain community.
The cause of the latest explosion, which happened at 10970 E. Cottonwood Lane in the Timber Lakes subdivision, was still being investigated as of Monday afternoon.
Firefighters cautioned it could take up to a couple weeks to determine what happened.

A propane explosion leveled a cabin east of Heber City Sunday but no one was inside at the time, fire authorities said. The blast blew out windows of the neighboring cabin but there were no injuries, according to Wasatch County Fire.Wasatch County Fire spokeswoman Janet Carson said it appeared crews had narrowed the ignition point down to somewhere in the basement, potentially on the northwest side of the cabin.
“It’s scary — makes you wonder what’s next,” said Mary Hammond, who lives across from the last cabin that exploded on Feb. 15.
Her husband helped to rescue the woman who was inside that home.
“He knew he had to do whatever he could to get in and get her out and he did, they did,” Hammond said.

Word of the latest explosion left her questioning if there were things homeowners could do to better protect their properties, especially in light of a handful of explosions and fires at cabins in the community over the past year or so.
“We as a community need to sit down and find out, one, why this is happening and how we can be better prepared,” she said.
