A male bicyclist was crossing 400 South near 1033 West around 6:10 p.m. when a white car struck him and drove away, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Mike Hatch.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition with "life-threatening" injuries, he said, and police are working to identify him.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses who saw the accident. Police are looking for a white car, possibly a Nissan, Hatch said.
