SANDY — A 14-year-old boy with autism is in critical condition after falling from a Ferris wheel at the Scheels store in Sandy on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The boy was with his father at the store, 11282 State, when he fell from the ride, Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen said. It is not clear exactly what time the fall took place.
Nielsen was not sure how the fall occurred or what height the teen fell from. There was nothing suspicious about the fall, he added.
The Ferris wheel in the store is 65 feet tall and has 16 cars, according to the Scheels website.
No other details about the fall were immediately available.
