OGDEN — Fallen Utah Army National Guard major and North Ogden Mayor Brent Taylor will be laid to rest Saturday.
Taylor’s funeral will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Weber State University Dee Events Center, 4444 Event Center Drive in Ogden. The funeral will be streamed live on KSL TV, KSL.com and on the Utah National Guard’s Facebook page, facebook.com/utahnationalguard.

After the service, Taylor will be laid to rest at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
Taylor was killed Nov. 3 in an apparent insider attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he had been deployed with the National Guard since January. He was the first Utah mayor to deploy while in office, taking a leave of absence to do so.
"He did love the people of Afghanistan — that's what's difficult about this whole thing," Gov. Gary Herbert said of Taylor on Nov. 4. "He was there to help them and did so. And that's the mark of a leader. There's a reason he was elected mayor of North Ogden. All his life he demonstrated leadership and a willingness to help."
