BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise's mayor says he's postponing the city's proposal for a new main library.
Boise Mayor David Bieter on Friday announced the city is giving up its efforts to put a ballot question before voters in November to fund the project.
He said Ada County Clerk Phil McGrane has refused to host a special election for the non-binding vote.
The mayor also said the most recent cost estimates suggests the library would cost the city $104 million.
That's nearly $20 million more than previously expected, which Bieter said was due to rising real estate and construction cost in Idaho.
