ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A dam at a small rural reservoir in northeast Nevada has breached, flooding part of a county road in Elko County.
Elko County Sheriff Aitor Narvaiza told the Elko Daily Free Press about 25 feet of the Jarbidge-Charleston Reservoir was washed out Wednesday after the Charleston Reservoir dam breached between Elko and Jarbidge about 20 miles south of the Idaho line.
Access to the road may be restricted. No other damage or injuries were reported.
Narvaiza says the pond that was breached is on property owned by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
He says personnel at a nearby ranch that uses water from the reservoir plan to repair it on Monday.
