PARK CITY — Jenni’s Trail is a beautiful hike that is well-known among Park City locals but might be unfamiliar to Utahns in other parts of the state.

From the top, the scenic hike on Park City Mountain yields soaring views of the ski resort and town down below; and the hike itself takes adventurers through towering aspen groves and flowery meadows in the spring and summer.

It is often utilized for mountain biking in the warmer months, but hikers are able to make its acquaintance as well because cyclists are only able to bike up and not back down the route.

Hiking Jenni's Trail

Jenni’s Trail can be either long or short, as it contains multiple legs and several add-ons are available to make it longer or turn it into a round-trip hike.

The first leg of the hike is 1.27 miles each way and continues at a gradual elevation gain from the base of Park City Mountain (accessible from the parking lot) through aspen groves. At the top of this leg, hikers may turn and head back to transform the hike into a 2.54-mile round-trip excursion, or they can keep going onto the continuation also titled "Jenni’s Trail." At this point, ignore turn-offs for Crescent Mine Grade and Loose Moose, although they are both nice extensions to the hike as well.

The next leg of Jenni’s Trail winds through 1.24 miles of mountain forest and ends at a fork which connects both Jenni’s and Moose Loose trails with the final portion of Jenni’s Trail. Be sure to take a right at this fork if you are ascending, or turn back and transform your excursion into a roughly 5-mile round-trip hike.

The final leg of Jenni’s ascends 1.31 miles to the top of a couple of chairlifts, presenting soaring views of Park City Mountain and the town below. Turn back here for a 7.62-mile out-and-back hike, or continue onto John’s Trail and descend through switchbacks and interconnecting trails back to the parking lot down below.

Parking is available at the base of the hike in the Park City Mountain parking lot. This hike isn’t as available in the winter; however, it will make for an excellent adventure in spring, summer and fall.
