SALT LAKE CITY — A 67-year-old man died Wednesday morning after falling 400 feet at Grand Canyon National Park, park service officials said Thursday.

Park rangers received a call that a man had fallen over the canyon’s South Rim east of the Yavapai Geology Museum about 11:30 a.m., according to National Park Service officials.

Officials said rangers were able to find the man’s body about 400 feet beneath the rim of the canyon. A helicopter and technical rescue team were able to recover the body Wednesday.

The man’s name wasn’t immediately released. His body was taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office in Flagstaff, Arizona.

He is the third park visitor to die at the park since the beginning of last week. On March 28, a Hong Kong man died after falling 1,000 feet while attempting to take a photo. Another visitor’s body was found on March 26, according to the Associated Press.
