Here’s when Utah’s ski resorts will open for the 2018-19 season

THE GREAT OUTDOORS — Ski season is just around the corner and several Utah resorts open this week for the 2018-19 season.

Brighton Resort opens on Thursday and will be the first local ski resort to open the season, according to Ski Utah. It is followed closely by Brian Head Resort, which opens Friday.

“A few early season storms and recent cold temperatures helped Brighton and Brian Head hit the mark for their opening dates,” Ski Utah President and CEO Nathan Rafferty said in an emailed statement. “We’re looking forward to getting out on the slopes and seeing more active weather move into the area as other resorts across the state prepare to open in the coming weeks.”

Utah is home to 14 ski resorts, 11 of which are within an hour of the Salt Lake City airport. Utah is also home to the largest ski resort in the United States: Park City Mountain Resort.

The opening dates for the rest of Utah’s ski resorts are as follows:

  • Alta Ski Area: Nov. 23
  • Beaver Mountain: To be determined
  • Cherry Peak Resort: Dec. 8
  • Deer Valley Resort: Dec. 8
  • Eagle Point Resort: Dec. 21
  • Nordic Valley Resort: To be determined
  • Park City Mountain: Nov. 21
  • Powder Mountain: To be determined
  • Snowbasin Resort: Nov. 21
  • Snowbird Resort: Nov. 30
  • Solitude Mountain Resort: Dec. 1
  • Sundance Mountain Resort: Dec. 7
