THE LAB — Have you ever wanted a robot dog?

I know the concept might not sound that appealing, but think about it. Robot dogs can still be cute and you can still have fun with them. Plus, there's a whole lot less to worry about: no clean-up, no vet fees, no having to rush home to feed them, and if you have allergies, a whole lot less sneezing.

If I have successfully convinced you that a robot pet is exactly what you need in your life, then good news. You can also DIY your new best friend with the help of this video.

The video is a two-for-one because it shows you how to create your own cute robot dog, and then it shows how well that dog can tackle an obstacle course. If you are not interested in building your own robot dog, it's still worth watching because the obstacle part of the video is incredible.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

It starts around the 2-minute, 10-second mark. The dog has to go over popsicle sticks, markers and cardboard boxes. At first, as I watched I was really impressed. This robot seems relatively low-key. The DIY looked like something anyone with a little bit of skill could put together, but the result was this dog that could overcome all these challenges.

And then things took a turn. The robot dog couldn't quite steer itself in the right direction and it goes crashing to the ground. The rest of the course is a lot more challenging, and there's even a part where it has to cross a bunch of lit matches.

In the end, our little robot friend does make it the end of the obstacle course, albeit after many tries. But that doesn't matter to me because watching it try all those times was adorable and a little hilarious. I now love this robot dog and want my own.
