THE OVERCROWDED SKIES — It can be somewhat intimidating when you walk onto a jetway and see how big passenger jets really are.

Then you think about how on earth these steel behemoths get off the ground and stay airborne at 30,000 feet. It's a modern marvel that science and technology have found a way to get these planes to fly.

Now, imagine the biggest Boeing plane you've ever seen and then make it even bigger. That's what this video has in store for you.

The YouTube poster, WColby titled the video "The World's Largest Airplane Landing in Oakland ATC," and I don't know much about airplanes, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out this really is the world's largest plane. WColby writes in the description that you can "nitpick" if that's actually true or not, but who really cares because this thing is massive and kind of breathtaking.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

When you watch the video the plane will look big, because it is. But wait until around the five-minute mark when you'll see this thing in comparison to a Southwest passenger jet and you'll realize the size of the Antonov An-225 Mriya is astonishing. Keep in mind, the Southwest jet is closer to the camera than the Antonov An-225 Mriya, which means the plane is even bigger than it looks.

According to Wikipedia, the Antonov An-225 Mriya was built by Ukraine and the Soviet Union in the 1980s as a cargo jet. The plane is the world's heaviest plane and has the world's longest wingspan.
