SALT LAKE CITY — Before you know it, you’ll be saying goodbye to swimsuits and sunscreen and hello to sweaters and scarves. There’s still plenty of time to get into the summer spirit, though. Here are some events happening throughout Utah in the month of August to help you celebrate summer in style.

Northern Utah

Now–Aug. 3: 5th-Annual Ogden Pride Festival

The Ogden Pride Festival will feature a variety of events at locations throughout Ogden in celebration of its fifth year. The main festival on Saturday runs 12-8 p.m. at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 E. 25th St. Admission is free. Check the website for details on event locations and times.

Now–Sept. 30: Snowbasin Blues, Brews & BBQ

Snowbasin Resort is again hosting its "Blues, Brews and BBQ" summer concert series, running every Sunday through Sept. 8. The free event goes from 12–5:30 p.m. at Snowbasin, 3925 Snow Basin Road, Huntsville. This month's artists are:

Aug. 7–10: Weber County Fair

The Weber County Fair features concerts, multiple rodeos and a demolition derby, among other activities. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and range from $2-$20. Kids ages 5 and under get in for free. The demolition derby, bullfights and Indian Relay Race require additional tickets (which include fair admission). The fair is located at the Weber County Fairgrounds, 1000 N. 1200 West in Ogden. The time of the first event varies, and the fair closes at 11 p.m. each day. Find a full schedule here.

Aug. 13: Tour of Utah

North Logan City will host the start and finish line of stage one of the weeklong Tour de France-style bike races. The race begins at 12:30 p.m. at 2800 N. 230 East and will end around 3:45 p.m. in the same place.

Aug. 14–17: Davis County Fair

The Davis County Fair will be held at the fairgrounds located at 151 S. 1100 West in Farmington. It will include live entertainment, carnival rides, food booths, a rodeo and a sea lion exhibit. Visit the website for the schedule with times of each event. Admission is $2–$5 and children under 2 years old enter free. The fair is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Salt Lake Area

Now–Aug. 7: Midvale Harvest Days

The Midvale Harvest Days offer a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment during its week-long festivities. Neighborhood block parties will be held throughout Midvale on Aug. 5, then the fun continues with activities including bingo, a 5K race, a parade, fireworks and live entertainment. Visit the website for more information and specific times and locations.

Aug. 3: Salt Lake City Tacofest

Tacos, giveaways, cultural performances and live music will be available to the public from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N. 1000 West in Salt Lake. Adult tickets are $7 and children 12 and under can enter for free. The event benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake.

Aug. 8–10: Salt Lake County Fair

The Salt Lake County Fair will include cowboy games, a hoedown, a petting zoo and more at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Fairgrounds, 2100 W. 11400 South in South Jordan. Opening times vary by day; see the schedule online. Admission is free.

Aug. 8–30: Twilight Concert Series

The annual Twilight Concert Series is taking place at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main Street. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased online. This month's lineup is as follows:

  • Aug. 8: Vince Staples
  • Aug. 15: Courtney Barnett
  • Aug. 30: Santigold
Aug. 9–11: Craft Lake City DIY Festival

Salt Lake City’s 11th annual do-it-yourself festival will take place at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N. 1000 West. The festival will feature more than 250 local artisans, along with vintage vendors, craft food creators, DIY engineers, kids crafts and activities, food, restaurants, exhibits and more. Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased here. Hours vary; check online for details.

Aug. 14: Zoo Brew

Hogle Zoo, 2600 Sunnyside Ave., is hosting Zoo Brew for adults from 6:30–9 p.m. All proceeds from the monthly event go toward helping endangered animals, with August dedicated to endangered tigers. Admission is $18.95 and drink tickets are $5. Dinner and snack options will be available for purchase. Attendees must be 21 and older with a valid ID to enter.

Aug. 17: Snowbird’s Oktoberfest Kick-off

Snowbird's Oktoberfest begins Aug. 17 and will be held every Saturday and Sunday (plus Labor Day) through Oct. 19. The event celebrates German culture and will feature ethnic food, live music, a large variety of beer, games and activities for the family. Parking costs $10 and Snowbird recommends carpooling due to the popularity of the event. The hours are 12–6 p.m.

Aug. 17–18: Utah Beer

Utah’s 10th annual and largest beer festival will include more than 200 different beers and ciders, live music, food vendors, games and more. The event will take place from 2–8 p.m. at the Utah State Fair Park, 155 N. 1000 West in Salt Lake City. Tickets range from $5-$50 if you buy them in advance here.

Aug. 24: Blue Moon Festival

This free event's featured musicians for 2018 are Salt Lake City 7 and the Caleb Chapman Super Crescent Band featuring Ryan Innes. The event also features the work of local craftspeople and artisans and food from local culinary artists. Freshly made food will also be available. The festival takes place from 4–10 p.m. at the Holladay City Hall Park, 4580 S. 2300 East in Salt Lake City.

Utah County

Now–Aug. 3: Santaquin Orchard Days

Parades, movies, bounce houses, food and craft vendors, tours, derbies and more will be at the Santaquin Orchard days. A full list of events and locations can be found online.

Now–Aug. 3: Springville World Folkfest

Three hundred traditional folk dances and music will occur daily at 7:30 p.m. at the Springville Arts Park, 620 S. 1350 East in Springville. Performers come from countries all over the world to perform dances from their native countries. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $5-$30.

Now–Aug. 11: "Mamma Mia!"

The Sundance Mountain Resort Summer Theatre is hosting the hit musical "Mamma Mia!" at 8 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through Aug. 10. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $26–$40. The theater is located at 8841 N. Alpine Loop Road in Sundance. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Aug. 3: Wasatch Wellness Run

The Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital is hosting its 15th annual Wasatch Wellness Run at 2119 E. Provo Canyon Road in Provo. Winners of the 10K and 5K races will receive cash prizes. Breakfast will be served to runners, and a family fun fair will be available to people of all ages. Registration is $12–$40 and can be done online.

Aug. 3–10: Alpine City Days

Sports, art, music, storytelling, parades, chalk art, car shows and more are just a few of the activities taking place at the Alpine City Days. Most activities are free, and tickets for others can be purchased online. A full list and schedule of events can be found online.

Aug. 14–17: Utah County Fair

The Utah County Fair will be held at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, 475 S. Main St., and feature a monster truck show, a demolition derby, a rodeo and other activities. Admission to the Utah County Fair and rodeo is free, and tickets for other events start at $8. Fair hours vary; check the website for details.

Aug. 19–23: BYU Education Week

Tickets are now available to attend Brigham Young University’s education week, a program for people ages 14 and older. Participants can take classes on arts, history, marriage and family, religion, education, communication and more. A full list of classes and times can be found online. Tickets range from $26–$80 if you register online by Aug. 17, or from $20–$85 at the door.

Central Utah

Aug. 15–17: Manti Mountain ATV-UTV Run

People have the chance to ride their ATVs through Manti’s canyons on the Arapeen OHV Trail System. A continental breakfast and free dinner are available to registrants. The event starts at 200 N. 400 West. Participants can register online for $50.

Aug. 21–24: Beaver County Fair

Races, exhibits, contests, demolition derbies, prizes, food, music, dancing and more will be held at the Beaver County Fair. The event is free to the public. Times and locations for events can be found online.

Southern Utah

Now-Oct. 13: Utah Shakespeare Festival

Tickets are available to see a wide variety of plays during Cedar City’s Utah Shakespeare Festival, located at 300 W. Center St. Plays include "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat,” “Macbeth,” “Twelfth Night” and more. Tickets can be purchased online.

Aug. 3, Aug. 9–10: Kane County Fair

Parades, games, bounce houses, zip lines, exhibits, contests, dancing, concerts, displays and much more will take place at the Kane County Fair. The fair is free to the public, and a full list of events and their locations can be found online.

Aug. 3-Oct. 20: Tuacahn Shows

Tuacahn has a variety of outdoor plays running during August, including "The Sound of Music” and “The Little Mermaid,” among others. Tickets start at $32. Visit their website for specific showtimes and prices.

Aug. 25: Bryce Canyon Fly-In and Car Show

This event will feature a bike ride, cars, planes, trophies and live music from 7 a.m. to dusk and is located at the Bryce Canyon Airport. Registration for the Canyon 2 Canyon Bike Ride begins at 6:50 a.m., is free and can be done online.

Eastern Utah

Now–Aug. 3: Emery County Fair

Water games, horseshoe tournaments, drag races, dance competitions, food and more activities for adults and children alike will also be available during this county fair. The event is free to the public. ​Granger Smith, featuring Earl Dibbles Jr., will perform on Aug. 3 at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $5-$25 and can be purchased online.

Aug. 2–3: Spring City Bluegrass Festival

Various bluegrass musicians will perform as part of this two-day event in Spring City at 150 E. Center. Tickets range from $7–$90.

Aug. 20: Heber Outdoor Festival

Attendees can enjoy children’s activities, workshops and dozens of vendors from some of the top manufacturers and retailers in the outdoor industry at the Heber Outdoor Festival, held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hamlet Park, Johnson Mill Road (850 E.) Main St in Midway. Admission is free.

Aug. 30–31: Midway Swiss Days

Guests can enjoy entertainment, craft and goods vendors, and food at Midway Swiss Days, held at the Midway Town Square (1st and Main St.). Admission is free.
